Surface-EXT is an alkali and acid-resistant glass fiber designed to extend the life of micro surfacing and slurry seal pavement applications. This easy-to-use treatment improves pavement flexibility and long-term durability. Thanks to its specific gravity like that of the aggregate, SURFACE-EXT can distribute evenly throughout the slurry mix. Furthermore, it can be used at any dosage to suit project needs. Typical dosage is 0.2% of fiber by dry aggregate weight

    • Real-World Performance



    Field tests, such as those conducted at the Texas Station Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, have shown that sections treated with Surface-EXT display significantly less cracking than untreated sections. Flexural tension testing by MWV Specialty Chemical revealed that adding Surface-EXT increased the average flexural bend from 9 mm to 54.5 mm.

    In another test at MnRoad, a Minnesota Department of Transportation test track, sections with Surface-EXT had significantly lower cracking and rutting percentages compared to control sections.


    Easy Integration



    Surface-EXT is incorporated into the mix using FORTA's patented Ranger feeder system, which can be mounted to any continuous or truck-mounted slurry or micro surfacing equipment in about one and a half hours. This allows for consistent and precise fiber distribution, enhancing the durability and strength of the pavement.
